In 2007, the WAAW (Working to Advance Science and Technology Education for African Women) Foundation was founded as an international non-profit organization (501(c) EIN: 20-8576703).
WAAW Foundation offers $500 scholarships for both merit and need-based female African students who are admitted to a University, College, or Institute of higher learning in Africa for the academic year 2023/2024.
The WAAW Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in the United States that works to recruit African girls into Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and Computer Science (CS) related fields, and ensure that these females are engaged in technology innovation for Africa’s development.

Waaw Foundation Scholarship 2023/2024 Eligibility
To qualify for the WAAW Foundation Scholarship, applicants must:
- Students of African descent living in Africa.
- You have access to a graduate program in a STEM field or a related field.
- Be in the second year (for a four-year course) or third year (for a five-year course).
- Must demonstrate excellent academic achievement and financial need.
- Special attention is paid to disadvantaged students such as orphans or HIV-infected girls.

Please note that WAAW does not fund diplomas, polytechnic or postgraduate degrees (MSc, MBA, or Ph.D.), second or later degrees, or students over 32 or non-STEM courses.

The WAAW Foundation will accept online applications beginning September 4, 2023. Applications submitted before this date will not be accepted or considered.
